Refunds and Cancellation

Last updated [[PLACEHOLDER: date]]

Draft

DRAFT — not legal advice. Have a qualified lawyer review this before taking payments.

21 placeholders on this page still need real values.

This policy covers purchases of [[PLACEHOLDER: product name — currently "Longhand"]] at [[PLACEHOLDER: website domain]], operated by [[PLACEHOLDER: legal entity name]].

1Status: nothing is sold yet

At the time of writing, [[PLACEHOLDER: product name]] is free and takes no payments. This policy is published in advance so that the terms are clear before any purchase is possible. Replace this paragraph the day payments go live.

2What you are buying

A one-time licence key that unlocks [[PLACEHOLDER: exactly what the paid tier unlocks]] in the web app. Price: [[PLACEHOLDER: price and currency]], plus any taxes shown at checkout.

It is a digital product. There is nothing to ship, and no physical goods are involved. There is no subscription, so there is nothing recurring to cancel — unless the purchase page says otherwise.

3Try it before you buy it

The free version of the app shows you exactly how the handwriting looks and lets you produce a page, so you can judge the quality before paying. We recommend you do that. If the output does not suit you, do not buy.

4Refund window

You may request a refund within [[PLACEHOLDER: refund window, e.g. 7 days]] of your purchase date.

We will refund you in full within that window if:

  • the app does not work in a supported, up-to-date browser and we cannot fix it for you;
  • your licence key does not activate and we cannot resolve it;
  • you were charged more than once for the same purchase, or charged in error;
  • you simply changed your mind and have not used the paid features ([[PLACEHOLDER: decide and state whether "changed my mind" refunds are offered unconditionally within the window, or only for a technical fault — an unconditional window is simpler to administer and is what most processors prefer to see published]]).

5When we may decline a refund

  • The request comes after the [[PLACEHOLDER: refund window]] window has closed.
  • The licence key has been shared, published, or resold.
  • The purchase was fraudulent, or made with a payment method you were not entitled to use.
  • The request is about something the product never claimed to do. To be clear about one recurring case: we do not refund because an institution, employer or authority rejected, penalised, or investigated work you produced with the app. That risk is yours and is set out in section 2 of the Terms of Service.

If your reason falls outside this policy, write to us anyway and explain. We would rather look at the facts than hide behind a rule.

6No cancellation charge

There is no fee for requesting a refund and no cancellation charge.

7How to request a refund

Email [[PLACEHOLDER: refunds/support email address]] with:

  1. the email address you used at checkout;
  2. the order or transaction reference from your receipt;
  3. the date of purchase;
  4. one line on what went wrong.

Alternatively use [[PLACEHOLDER: any other support route, e.g. a contact form URL — or delete this line]].

8How long it takes

StepTimeframe
We acknowledge your request within [[PLACEHOLDER: acknowledgement time, e.g. 2 business days]]
We decide and tell you the outcome within [[PLACEHOLDER: decision time, e.g. 5 business days]] of receiving the request
Approved refund is initiated with the payment processor within [[PLACEHOLDER: initiation time, e.g. 3 business days]] of approval
Money reaches your account typically [[PLACEHOLDER: settlement time, e.g. 5–10 business days]], depending on your bank or card issuer

The last step is controlled by your bank, card issuer, or UPI provider, not by us.

9How the money comes back

Refunds are made to the same payment method you used — the same card, the same UPI ID, the same bank account. We cannot refund to a different method, and we do not refund in cash, store credit, or vouchers unless you ask for that and we agree in writing.

Refunds are processed through our payment processor, [[PLACEHOLDER: payment processor name — undecided; either Razorpay/Cashfree (India) or Paddle/Lemon Squeezy (merchant of record)]]. If that processor is a merchant of record (meaning it is the seller on record, not us), the refund is issued by them and their receipt is the one your bank will reference.

10Currency and charges

Refunds are issued in the currency you were charged in, [[PLACEHOLDER: state whether the refund is of the exact amount charged, and who bears any currency-conversion difference or bank charge]]. Exchange-rate movement between purchase and refund can mean the amount landing in your account differs slightly from what left it; that difference is set by your bank and is outside our control.

11Taxes

Where tax (such as Indian GST, or EU VAT collected by a merchant of record) was charged, an approved full refund includes that tax.

12What happens to your licence

Once a refund is issued, your licence ends and you must stop using the paid features. Files you already created stay yours — we do not ask for them back and we could not reach them anyway, since they only ever existed on your device.

13Chargebacks

If something has gone wrong, please email us first. A chargeback raised with your bank before contacting us costs us a fee and takes longer for you than a direct refund. We will always try to resolve it directly.

14Consumer rights

This policy adds to, and does not take away from, your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 in India, or under mandatory consumer law where you live.

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance purchase. For digital content delivered immediately, that right can be lost once delivery starts with your agreement — [[PLACEHOLDER: confirm with counsel whether the checkout will ask EU/UK buyers to consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge losing the 14-day withdrawal right; if not, honour the full 14 days]].

15Grievances

If you are unhappy with how a refund was handled, escalate to [[PLACEHOLDER: grievance officer name or role]] at [[PLACEHOLDER: grievance contact email address]]. See Contact and Grievance Redressal for the full escalation route.

16Changes

We may update this policy. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published on the date you bought.
